Home Office appoints three new Non-executive directors

2006-10-16

Non-executive directors contribute to the work of the Home Office by challenging and contributing to the development of strategy; scrutinising the organisation’s performance; ensuring that the Department’s governance, internal control and risk management systems are effective; and supporting on aspects of the business on which they have specific skills or experience.

John Heywood will sit on the main Home Office Board and will Chair the Home Office Audit Committee.  Stephen Taylor and Mike Hawker will sit on the Immigration and Nationality Directorate Board.

Home Office Permanent Secretary Sir David Normington said:

“I am delighted to announce these new appointments.  Non-executive directors play a valuable role in the work of the Department by providing valuable external advice and expertise which informs the decision making process. They offer an independent constructive challenge to the operation of the Home Office Board.”
