Passport fees rise on 5 October2006-10-10 | |
| From 5 October 2006 UK passport fees will increase. The rise in the fees allows for the introduction of the new biometric passport, as well as other anti-fraud measures such as enhanced background checks on applicants and preparations for face-to-fac All passport applications received by the Identity and Passport Service from 5 October will be subject to the new fees. Even if your passport is not immediately due to expire you can save money by applying up to nine months before it does expire. If you do this the Passport Service will add extra credit on your new passport for any whole months still left on your old passport on the day the new one is issued. You can renew your passport at any time but the Passport Service can add no more than 9 months unexpired validity from the old passport to the new one and no refund can be given for the unexpired time in the old passport. The fee for a standard adult passport application or renewal will go up from £51 to £66. The Fast Track service will rise from £77.50 to £91. © Crown Copyright |
